Evan at 41 months old

Something this week has clicked with Evan.  I think it's because he's officially 41 months old.  :)

He will now walk down stairs normally, when holding a hand.  In the past he has wanted to scoot down on his bottom, fall down, go limp, or slide his feet off slowly until they fall off the step.  He will now bend his knees and take steps down while holding on to someone.  I still don't trust him to do stairs by himself, but he's come a long way!

Mom told me that Evan had counted to four for Barbara this week.  We had been working on numbers all weekend by counting, singing songs, and holding up fingers.  Last night he sat in my lap and I held up my fingers to count one at a time.  Evan counted to ten all by himself!  He did partial counts several times before and after that, as he was distracted by people coming and going around him.  I couldn't believe he went all the way to ten, and of course I didn't have my camera going.  My mom cheered for him when he did it.

Evan said "Bye bye, Aunt Kim," clear as a bell last night.  He strung together several words for sentences and even pointed to people while saying their name.  He rarely points or answers when you ask where someone is or who they are.  He pointed and said, Papa, Alex, Mama, and Elise last night.  He was on a roll!

Evan has a very soft spoken voice so it's hard to hear or tell that he's engaging in conversation, but it's clear that he's not missing much and always paying attention.

If we can get him to not throw toys and sippy cups and to not take off his shoes, we will have overcome some huge hurdles.  He does say "don't throw," each time he throws a toy, so at least he knows the verbiage! I think he's going to take off when school starts back in another week.
