Broken Nose

On Saturday, I obtained my fourth broken bone. Previously, I have broken both wrist bones and my right thumb. As I leaned down to pick up Evan on Saturday afternoon, he lifted his head at the same time, connecting with my nose. I heard a crunchy pop sound and felt immediate pain in my nose. There was no bleeding, but it sure did hurt a lot. I continued about my day and that evening told Vince I thought Evan may have broken my nose. It didn't look swollen or bruised, so I waited until the next morning to really be concerned. Sunday morning it had a slight red mark to it and was very painful when I tried to blow my nose. So Vince packed us all up and we headed over to Doctor's Care when they opened at 9am. After taking four x-rays and waiting for an hour and forty-five minutes (even though I was the second person there when they opened), it was concluded that I did indeed have a break. The doctor said it was a "stable fracture" that would not require setting. They sent me on my way with a disc of the x-rays and a referral to the ENT. I can't tell much from the x-rays, but here they are.

I'm waiting for the ENT appointment, which I'm sure will be one where he says "good luck. We can't do much for you." Now we have proof that Evan is indeed hard-headed. I wonder who he gets that from? Luckily, my nose doesn't really look broken.

It now has a slight bruise to it near the bridge. And just to make things more interesting, while slicing some cheese for sandwiches after returning from the clinic, my hand slipped down the knife and I cut the palm of my right hand. It was not too deep and luckily we did not have to go back to the doctor's office again. Too much fun for one weekend!

St. Patrick's Day!

This year Saint Patrick's Day fell on a Monday. Luckily (no pun intended), I had gotten the boys matching outfits last month when Carter's had a great sale. The shirts say "Lucky Me," but they should say, "Lucky You!" We are definitely lucky to have two such cute boys! This is the best shot I got of Evan.  He's like trying to make a wet cat stand still.

And since I had on some green, I took a quick selfie with both boys before I left for work.

Vince's Baby Outfit

Vince had an old baby gown that he wore as a baby.  I took a picture of Evan in it when he was a baby.  This week I took a picture of Alex in the gown.  It's neat to have an heirloom that can last for many years.

Alex's First Bath

Both of my boys took forever for their umbilical cord to dry up and go away completely.  Alex had his cord treated 3 times at the doctor's office with silver nitrate to help dry it up faster.  It took 6 1/2 weeks to fully heal up.  So at almost 2 months old, Alex finally was able to have his first water bath and not just a sponge bath.  I think he enjoyed it.

Beauty and the Beast

For the past three years, Vince and I have hosted a table at Tinis and Tapas to benefit the Hope Center for Children. It is held each year on the weekend of the Academy Awards and the theme this year was musicals. We chose Beauty and the Beast. My friends, Kaye, LaDonna, and Christopher helped out again. We decorated our table, prepared a drink and snack, and dressed up in character. It is fun to be able to mingle with different folks in Spartanburg and meet new friends. I missed out on the silent auction this year as we were busy at our table. Some of the other musicals represented at other tables were Chicago, Legally Blonde, Singing in the Rain, The Sound of Music, Grease, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. They all did a fabulous job. The food was really well done this year as well.

LaDonna was Mrs. Potts, Christopher was the Beast, Kaye was Babette, and I was Belle.

I made candy coated Oreos with a rose on each one to represent the rose from Beauty and the Beast.  It was a great place to let people know that I make cakes as well.  I can't wait until next year. 

Two and Two

Alex turned two months old on March 3. He is already smiling and cooing at us. He is still a little bobble headed, but is working on holding his head up. We are starting to put him on his tummy more now that his belly button finally healed up (took only 6.5 weeks!). He still eats 3 ounces about every 3 hours, but is starting to go for one long stretch at night, sometimes up to 5 hours. His eyes are still blue and his hair is coming in longer now and is blond. We will see if his eyes or hair change color as he gets older. He's such a good baby and loves to swing or be held. He likes looking at the ceiling fan, too.

Evan turned two years old on March 4. He understands a lot and follows commands. He has a pretty good vocabulary, but doesn't use it on command. His favorite words are butt (for button), bath, up, meow, bye bye, and clock. He is definitely all boy. He loves to run from us, throw things, bang his head on things, jump in his jumper, play outside, and snuggle up to nap. He's a fairly good eater and loves Chick Fil A, ice cream, cupcakes, cheetos, cookies, yogurt and milk. He likes to take off his socks and try to put them back on. Evan also likes to play with zippers and can unzip his own jacket. His favorite toys are the ones that are musical or talk. And he loves dancing with Ellen when her show comes on each day. He also likes to watch the Kelly and Michael show. Evan keeps us on our toes and entertained. We have two fabulous little boys! They are growing up fast.
