Three Days of Snow

It very rarely snows in South Carolina, much less for 3 solid days with enough snow to really play in. Vince and his co-workers went on a sled run the day before the snow hit us and he bought one of the last sleds available. We were then stuck inside the house for 3 days while snow and ice accumulated. Luckily, Evan loved the snow and he went sledding with Vince for a couple of days down our driveway and back yard. We have the perfect slope for sledding! He got his ski jacket from Uncle Billy last year and we found the ski bib on clearance back in January. They came in very handy!

Alex is 1 month old

February 3 marked Alex's 1 month birthday. Evan helped us celebrate by eating (demolishing) his first cupcake. Evan loved the cupcake. He got it all over his clothes and face. Alex truly is a blessing. He likes to eat every 3 hours and wakes up ready to go. He is much noisier than Evan was by grunting, squeaking, and crying out often. He really likes to eat and can drink a bottle really fast.

Alex (and Evan) received some family and friends shortly after Alex was born. I think he liked being held a lot. Evan enjoyed all the attention as well.

Alex's Newborn Pictures

My friend and photographer, Jessie, took Alex's newborn pictures when he was about 2 weeks old. As always, she did a fabulous job. Alex has such white blond hair. I'm so glad she was able to capture him so well. I only wish she could go back in time and do Evan's. Here are some of my favorites.

Edward Alexander Williams

After about a week of having some sporadic contractions and signs of labor, we finally welcomed Edward Alexander Williams.  Our scheduled induction was at week 39 on January 3, 2014.  Vince and I arrived at the hospital at 5am.  By 8am, the Pitocin drip was started and my water was broken.  By 8:05, I started have strong contractions about 2 - 5 minutes apart.  I received an epidural at 9:15am after experiencing contractions on my own for over an hour. 

Mom and Rachel arrived to provide support during delivery.  Barbara & Jerry kept Evan for us.  Elise and Dad were also on alert to come join us once the baby arrived.  By 1:30pm, I had dilated to a 9, almost a 10.  The nurse came in at 2pm to check me and the doctor came in immediately after.  I pushed through 8 contractions in less than 10 minutes. 

"Alex" arrived at 2:09pm.  He weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 1/4 inches long. He has very light blond hair.  All the doctors and nurses loved his pretty hair. 

The hospital is now "baby friendly," which means they cut back on many options and had to call it something.  They no longer provide a nursery, pacifier, or even soaking salts for the tub. However, the care was excellent.  I enjoyed watching them give Alex his first bath in our room and have all the doctors examine him in front of us. 

Evan was very curious to see his baby brother and seemed very interested.  We enjoyed seeing him interact with Alex.  

 The nurse gave him his first mohawk when she washed his hair.

We love our newest addition to the family.  Welcome baby Alex!
