Halloween 2018

Alex had a proper Hulk costume this year, and had dictated that Evan wear Iron Man. I was Wonder Woman and Vince was Captain America. This was the first time in years that Vince & I attended a party without the kids. We had a nice time at my friend's house. We loved the Spooktacular event at the Piedmont Club a few days before Halloween. The neighborhood did not have a pre-Halloween party this year. We decided after going to 2 houses that we would take the boys to our church's huge Trunk-or-Treat. It's massive. We were nervous about parking and waiting in line, but it was so fun. We got 7 pounds of candy!!

Fall Family Photos

I have to preface this post by saying that Evan was in no mood to take pictures this day. Jessie tried her best to work with a boy that really wanted to leave. I'm still in shock that she managed to get any decent pictures of us, much less, the number of fabulous ones that she did. She always amazes me how she can capture our family so well. One of these days, Evan will smile at the same time he looks at the camera.

Field Trips and Busy Schedules

Evan's school is so busy this year. They have had multiple field trips, parties, parent/family events, and more. It's difficult trying to keep up with it all. I have calendars printed, but still have to make sure I get it all done. His class visited the high school to see a play.

They also participate in the D6 Games, which are district six's version of Special Olympics. Evan had some fans in the area.

Each Tuesday, the local horse farm brings miniature horses to Evan's school. His class took a field trip to ride the big horse as well.

 Parent/Teacher night was nice for us to visit Evan's classroom and see the work he's been doing.

Each Friday the kids are encouraged to wear their school shirt. Red Ribbon week had a different theme each day. Farmer's Day was fun for Evan at school as they had live animals and a tractors.

Alex and Evan had Farmer's Day on the same day this year.

Alex goes early every day to participate in one of the following: Soccer Shots, Amazing Athletes, gymnastics, dance, and gymnastics (again). He loves wearing a mohawk on soccer days.

 Picture day was fun for both boys. They were dressed nicely.

Alex's class has had several field trips this year already. He visited the local dairy farm, learned about pumpkins, and went through a corn maze. His class also visited the Children's Museum.

 We were lucky enough to have a nice visit from Jerry's daughter, Jenay, and her husband, Ted. The boys love Aunt Nay Nay and Ted. 

First Day of School

The boys started a couple of days apart at their schools. Evan is now in the big school! He started 5K in a special classroom with his wonderful assistant, Hannah. He will now eat breakfast and lunch in the school cafeteria with his class. At 6 years old, Evan is now doing several things:

1. Evan loves his daddy. He is such a daddy's boy.
2. Evan does not talk with words, but is learning more words on his iPad through the AVAZ program, as well as using sign language for simple requests such as eat.
3. He will now sit in a chair to eat without having to be restrained as much. He still loves to knock over all drinks on the table, so this is closely monitored at restaurants.
4. Evan loves the little packaged muffins more than life itself. He can eat 3 bags at a time, if we let him. He loves bacon.

We are excited to see how he does with the big kids at elementary school.

Alex started at the ELC again this year, but now in 4K. We were hoping to get him in the CDC for all day 4K, but he was last on their long waiting list. If we had low income or Alex had special needs, he would have been a candidate. Lucky for us, we love the ELC. His teacher is Ms. Barbara, who is Hannah's mom! So both by boys have teacher/aide from the same family. They can't get away from us! Alex has many skills at 4 years old:

1. Alex practices writing his letters. He does not like writing, but works on it daily. He constantly asks me how to spell things, but he's not quite reading, yet. He does know many sight words.
2. Alex can count to 1000, by 2s, 10s, or 100s. He loves doing math. He even knows negative numbers.
3. He loves candy and popsicles. He could skip all real food and eat junk and drink milk all day. He does not like any breakfast foods. 

The boys were excited to start back to school after a full summer of summer camps for Alex, ABA therapy for Evan, and a trip to Orlando, Florida.
