March 21 each year is World Down Syndrome Day. This represents 3 copies of the 21st chromosome, hence 3/21. We rocked our socks to help bring awareness. Did you know that chromosomes look like mismatched pairs of socks under a microscope? There are three types of Down syndrome. Evan has trisomy 21 or T21, the most common type of Down syndrome. This means he has 3 copies of the 21st chromosome in every single cell. Others have translocation or mosaic Down syndrome, but those two types are rare.
