I am so glad we got there by lunch time. By evening, the hotel parking lot was way over crowded. Someone parked 2 inches from our car door & two other cars parked right behind us so there was no getting out. We walked along River Street and checked out all the shops and the market. We ate at a great restaurant called Dockside. The food was so good. They had the best peach cobbler I've ever eaten on their buffet.
This huge barge went by on the river. Savannah is a huge shipping port. We also saw some great boats and yachts parked along River Street.
We rested during the afternoon so that we would be ready to stay up late for the New Year's celebration. Our first stop was dinner at Rocks. We had only a 30 minute wait for dinner and it was really good food.
We saw this car lit up on River Street shortly before midnight.
We hung out on River Street until the fireworks went off at midnight, but the fog was so thick, we didn't see anything. We could hear them, but could not see 20 feet in front of us. We were surrounded by thousands of people all staring into the fog looking for a spark. The atmosphere was fun & festive. Happy New Year!!
